I am so looking forward to time off this summer - I'll still be working mostly full-time but NO classes! It will seem like a vacation!
I need your suggestions for good books and movies to read and watch (preferably ones not found in the children's section of the library - though if you have a good kid's book suggestion let me know). I LOVE to read and have a few I have been wanting to reread and read but wanted to get your suggestions - or authors you like. AND since we have netflicks - what movies have you enjoyed lately OR a long time ago (I know I have gaps in my movie viewing history and need some suggestions.) and if there are any T.V.shows that are worth getting the season of on netflicks.
OK - I just want to be ready when Wednesday gets here to celebrate the start of summer doing some of the things I rarely have time to do.

These are things I have read lately, some fiction, some not, and most you have probably already read--of Mice and Men, Catcher in the Rye, Honey for a Child's Heart, The Well Trained Mind, The Case for Classical Christian Education, Wuthering Heights...(I always read while I nurse, hence the long list). Anyway...would love to hear some of your favorites!!!
For great christian fiction Randy Singer is fantastic. He's a lawyer for the IMB that lives in Atlanta. He writes ethical/legal fiction that is great. Think John Grishom meets God :) Irreparable Harm, Directed Verdict and Dying Declaration are some of his best.
He also has a Fiction/non ficton book called The Cross examination of Jesus Christ that is wonderful. The opening and closing chapters are fiction, the middle is an examination of how Jesus responded to the pharisees question. Very Interesting.
Anything by Francine Rivers is wonderful fiction as well. I've read everything she's written at least once :) The Mark of the Lion series is my favorite. Make sure you have time to read them. I was up til 4 am b/c I couldn't put them down!
I also love Screwtapes Letters by C.S. Lewis. It is one deamon's letters to another, he's teaching him how to keep man from knowing or growing in God. So strange and so eye opening. Great example of how Satan tries to lie, kill and destroy.
Non fiction that I love, Instruments in the Redeemer's Hands by Paul David Trip. Feminine Appeal:Seven Virtues of a Godly Wife and Mother by Carolyn Mahaney. The Joy of Fearing God or The Pursuit of Holiness by Jerry Bridges.
And the best movie I've seen lately is Blind Side. Bring your klenex, and be ready to start Foster Care afterwards. But it is wonderful!
Enjoy your time this summer. Hoping to see you soon :)
