Touching Silver - literally

As a family we love watching the Olympics - finding countries on the map, learning new sports, cheering on new favorites (usually based on what color they are wearing or what their name is) and always cheering on USA!!!

Tonight we went to the Mall to meet a "for real" Olympian - Elana Meyers. We got to touch the silver - literally.  Elana won silver in the 2 man bobsledding this year in Sochi and a bronze in the Vancouver games in 2010. She's not only from Douglasville but her family lived in our neighborhood until recently. Maybe the kids sledding on cookie sheets in the backyard might bring some precious metal our way one day :)  Right now stainless steel will have to be the shine in our Olympic aspirations.

Lucy wrote a note to Elana
"Thank you for working hard for USA.  My name is Lucy.  I am 6 years old. I've been cheering for you.  Congratulations for your silver medal.  I know it took alot of work.  When it snowed I went sledding.  It was alot of fun!"
We stood behind Elana while the local news interviewed her.

More snow

This snow was perfect for a snowball fight, snowman and more sledding! Lots of ice falling from the trees and sunshine
