During supper on Tuesday evening -
Samuel: "Mama what is this called?
Mama: "CHILI, it has beans and meat and tomatoes."
Later when mama went to the kitchen to get Lucy some water.
Samuel: "Mama, can I have some more COLD."
Mama: "Do you mean CHILI? Yes, you may have some more."
Samuel: "This is yummy."

What's your style?
Mama has been trying to figure out a way to describe our fashion "style". Some of my friends' families have the "southern" fashion sense, the outdoors-y camo style, the matching look (all members blend well together or match), some are edgy or artsy, some are boutique fashion. While we could be described as some of these (I wear my fair share of camo and John Deere outfits) Mama has decided that as a whole - we would be described as "German". For all of you who have traveled, you know the type - a jumble of prints and colors, not quite on cutting edge and totally comfortably being a little "off" when it comes to fashion. Mama says that's what we are most of the time and that's ok. We have lots of cute outfits but when left to our own vices we drift toward the German in us.
Late Night Gig
Our bedtime routine is the same most nights - Bath, pj's, snack and drink, song time, reading time and prayer. The routine is tweaked some nights but Lucy and I really like the new addition to songtime - INSTRUMENTS. Grandma and Papa gave me instruments for my birthday this summer and we love them. Sometimes we have a marching band down the hallway - Lucy on maracas and me on the triangle - or we play the tambourine and jingle bells while Daddy backs us up on guitar. I've even added drums recently using the plastic container mama uses to hold our instruments. We love these instruments and recommend them for anyone trying to think of a good Christmas/Easter gift for their kiddos.

Off to Papa and grandma's
Lucy and I are with Grandma and Papa for a couple of days so that we can go with Papa to the Ag EXPO in Moultrie, GA. This is my 2nd annual trip and Papa loves for me to go with him. Mama says it's kindof like Disney World for farm boys! I'll send pictures.

Quick pit stop
This morning we got ready for school and headed out the door. Mama had all of our bags and cups and the last few bites of breakfast in her hand. Mama strapped Lucy into her seat and left me in the van to put my seatbelt on by myself while she ran inside to get her coffee. When she came back out this is what she saw....
.
She was a little surprised that I had hopped out of the car and decided to go to the bathroom on the tree in the front yard. I don't know why it is such a big deal - it is much more convenient than running back inside and peeing. Mama says I need to be careful where I pee...we had a good laugh.

sword fighting - cowboy style
On Tuesday's my neighbor friends - Connor and Jordan - come and play with us after mommy gets home from school. I love to play with them and last Tuesday Jordan and I had a sword fight. My scabbard works well as a sword when two are needed and my sword also doubles well as a horse! Jordan was quite skillful in his sword fighting but I made better sound effects. OH - and Mr. Potato head was a casualty of battle - you can see him lying oh so very still in the midst of the fight. (FYI - no potatoes were harmed in the course of fighting - it is all pretend.)

A bunch of characters
Everyday is an adventure around here. Lucy and I love to pretend and dress up - my cowboy hat (or cowgirl hat) is well loved (thanks again Uncle Pat and Aunt Ann) and I love to hop on my trusty ride and head off into the sunset...
Lucy loves any outfit that includes hats and boots - she is a great fire fighter woman and often helps me in my cowboy adventures too...
Verbal expedition
Quote from this morning before we went to Publix -
"Mama, you were on the phone with Mrs. Tutti for a long, long, long, long time. You were on the phone with her for about 100 miles!"
Quote in Publix -
Samuel -"Mama do they put those doors on the milk so that bad robbers don't take it?"
Mama - "No, that is so the milk stays cold."
Samuel - "But why does it have to stay cold? Will it decay?"
.......
Today I was home sick because I had a fever. I was fine after my fever broke this morning and we headed on an adventure to Publix. I like going to Publix because they have car carts and they give Lucy and me free cookies. I even met a friend. Here is a conversation I had with the little boy (he was in his cart with his daddy and I was in my car cart with Lucy and Mama. We kept running into each other - I think Mama was trying not to)
in the deli section - to the little boy in the bakery section
"MAMA - THERE IS ANOTHER LITTLE BOY!!!!!!!"
Hey boy, what is your name?" (no response)
-Mama said, "Samuel, not so loud, buddy."
Later in the produce section getting bananas-
"Hey little boy, what is our name?" (no response)
"My name is Samuel, this is my little sister Lucy." (only a muffled response came)
"Can you talk louder? Does your throat hurt?"
"What are you going to be for Halloween? I am going to be a fire fighter man and my little sister is going to be a fire dog."
- mama told me not to talk so loud but i can't hear her, my ears are as clogged as can be-
a little later on the cereal aisle (Mama finally let me get the sunshine cereal I've been wanting - Raisin Bran)-
"Hey boy, what is your name?" (no response)
"What are you going to be for Halloween? ("I'm going to be Thomas", said the not so loquacious little boy)
"OH! you aren't shy! you can talk! SO, what is your name?" (no response)
On the dairy aisle -
"Hey Mommy, he likes cheese too - see, he has cheese!"
"Little boy, do you like cheese?"
Can you speak up, I think your shy?
Mama was gently reminding me to talk softly and be kind. It is so hard! Mama says it's because I'm locquacious - I told her it was because I am Samuel.

Camping! WHAAHOOO!
We did it! We went on our first family camping trip. We had so much fun outside. I got to eat lots of marshmellows, play in the dirt AND there were so many great sticks to find and play with. Lucy really liked eating hotdogs and playing with the ducks at the pond and the turtle a lady showed us. We had a wonderful time and I can't wait to go back - neither can mama! Mama was all ready talking about taking us to Yellowstone National park when we get a little older - she loves being outside as much as we do. All in all it was a great trip!
