A few of my favorite things
A few of my favorite Christmas things...
- Christmas cards and emails from friends
- caroling to older neighbors who enjoy the intrusion of children singing loudly - JOY to the WORLD and Feliz Navidad!
- a second grade party with cookies, frosting and sprinkles - pulled off while keeping 1 year old from sqeezing tightly a gerbil and 5 year old from dancing/flitting around too much.
- Stone Mountain Christmas in freezing weather with the wonder of children and a 1 year old fascinated by music and lights.
- Advent readings each night with eager children taking turns opening doors and reading the story.
- An evening with dear friends over tacos and good conversation
- Pancakes for breakfast with sprinkles and whip cream while the hail falls outside
And these little ones pressing in and filling each moment -
- Carefully making cards for dear grandparents!
- A tree decorated with little hands and full underneath with presents excitedly anticipated
- A big brother dancing to Christmas music with his little sister
- A sweet helper wrapping present for Daddy and writing her own messages on the outside just for him
- while the 3rd born plays with sharp objects...

More body parts
OK - to round out my week of posts about body parts we'll talk about rear-ends (insert giggling from 7 and 5 year old)
Lydia had an appointment at the GI doctor on Wednesday - this is the same doctor we went to when she was a screaming baby with colic. Lydia's been having the same issues as Lucy (Lucy had 2 colonoscopies and 8 polyps removed from her colon/rectum 2 years ago) and we wanted to check Lydia out.
Lydia will be having some follow up appts but no procedures. The exams were clear but she'll still be monitored over the next couple of years as she is potty trained. We're hoping all is well and the bowel changes will heal on their own over time. So grateful there doesn't seem to be a need for anything further right now. Poor toothless kid can rest easy for a little while...and we can get onto posts about Christmas...or more body parts.

Hearts
With every other Mom and Dad and American I pray with heavy heart for our country - for those hurting from the tragedy in CT and those who have fear creeping into their hearts. Unlike many of our friends, my children attend public school - an elementary school that could have been Sandy Brook. My children are in kindergarten and second grade. My children could have been those children.
I'm praying hard for PEACE - hard for right perspective and clinging as I can to what is True and Right and Beautiful - these three energetic children who rub against me on the couch during family worship remind me in the flesh about what is important, what to cling to, what to linger on and what to not leave untold. What a great time to remember Immanuel - God with us in the flesh - into the madness, the brokeness, the hurt - to bring Wholeness and Peace and Comfort!
AND for our physical hearts around here -
Today we had our annual check ups for Samuel and Lucy at the cardiologist. The short version is Lucy's PDA hasn't gotten any smaller but no bigger - so we are THANKFUL.
Samuel has been having chest pain, tightness and a "strange feeling" for the last several months. Not sure what is going on and hope it is just a normal variation of his heart murmur. To confirm all of this he will be wearing a monitor for the next few days to try and capture the issue on monitor - pray with me that there will be an episode while the monitor is on. He usually has them every day or every other day.
I guess we'll move onto other body parts later this week!

Smiles and Teeth
My first born lost his 5th tooth this week - Wednesday. He's had no problems with those teeth his long 7 years.
My second born chipped her front right tooth on her 3rd birthday. She has yet to loose a tooth by natural means but is anticipating the day and wears her chipped tooth proudly.
My third born, well, she's a third born. Today she lost her first tooth - Not by natural methods (mind you she's 19 months old). When I got home from work tonight I heard the news and then I saw the sweet punkin - cuddly and cute as ever - missing her front left tooth - I'll admit that the music to dueling banjos did run through my mind.
The whole back story to the missing tooth - that will now be missing for years as we wait for an adult tooth to come in is -
Earlier this week Lydia wanted to go outside and I told her we had to wait until brother and sister finished cleaning the bathroom upstairs. I went upstairs to check on the progress and heard a crash followed by NO cry. I ran down the stairs to finally hear a blood curdling scream from my bloody mouthed third born. I assume from the scene she tried to stand on her riding toy to reach the door handle to the closet to get her shoes or the front door to make a dash for the yard - either way her bloody lip and front two teeth were obviously hurt. Four hours later when she still had blood oozing from her mouth - she finally fell asleep. (Yes, we did call a friend who is a dentist to have him give us advice and he sweetly stopped by to check on her)
The next day she was perfect and seemed only to have a sore mouth. The front two teeth were a little loose but they hung on, Saturday was the same and she seemed to be on her way to healing...until today when Lydia fell out of her chair at the table while she was eating her snack as usual. The whole front tooth - root and all - came out. We allready knew there is nothing to do (baby teeth eventually fall out) Jeremy called our dear friend again and had him come look at our sweet punkin AGAIN. She's fine - and we are hoping the other tooth hangs in there so that two teeth aren't missing for the next 4 years.
Wow - third born!

Tidings
Tidings of Comfort and Joy to you this Christmas season from the Noonan's
"God
rest ye merry, gentlemen
"God
rest ye merry, gentlemen
Let nothing you dismay
Remember, Christ, our
Saviour
Was born on Christmas day
To save us all from Satan's
power
When we were gone astray
O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort
and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy"

Visitors
The things I like most about the holidays are a break from your normal schedule to get to spend time with dear friends. We got together with the Coon's for a little visit over Thanksgiving and got to play with David and Anna. Here are the kids with sweet Anna. What precious friends!
We had more time with friends last weekend when we took a crazy trip to the FSU vs GT - ACC Championship game (it wouldn't have been so crazy if I was 21 and didn't have three kiddos to hand off to grandparents and babysitters go but at this stage in life - CRAZINESS). We got to spend the evening with the Cravers and enjoy their hospitality and three precious kiddos (thanks so much!).
AND then - The next day we had a wonderful lunch with the Warren's in Greenville on our little stop before heading home. Nolan and Elliott have grown so much since I last saw them - just another glimpse of the speeding up of time in the faces of friends and their children! Thanks for letting us drop in an enjoy a yummy meal and sweet time together

A Florida summer
As I sit in listening to Christmas music and trying to catch up after a long day of work yesterday - I saw these sweet pictures of cousins this summer...aren't the days fleeting? Cousins ate ice cream (probably more than one cone) and played excitedly with Grandma's thimble collection...I miss those Florida boys (chubster not pictured) and that farm - I look forward to next time!

Give Thanks
Happy Thanksgiving from the Noonan family
Giving thanks to the LORD for his many blessings. I'm getting ready to leave for work - Papa is feeding Lydia sop biscuits at the table (rolls dipped in a mixture of Blackburn's syrup and butter), Grandma's coffee is ready and the house is full of life. I'm grateful for all the blessings of this year the LORD has given - even those I couldn't have even imagined.
And here is Lucy's outfit she wanted to wear for the photo shoot -

Full cup overflows
Today at church as we sang Psalm 23, I got choked up on the words "My full cup overflows". I am a blessed mama, wife, sister and daughter...in the fullness of life that is bursting at the seams right now...tears of thankfulness flowed - I'm choosing thankfulness even in the midst of sorrow (Jeremy wrote a blog post at his blog MusingandMotion about the resent sorrow). Here is a glimpse of scenes of thankfulness around my house today. Thank you LORD, for the beauty and the mess. Amen.
